Technologies
The science behind the technology is the result of years of development and testing. Ongoing science and collaboration with our partners underpin all that we do as we move toward our goal of natural renewable sustainable filtration.
The extensive Lanaco breeding programme has produced the Astino sheep and resulting filter focused wool. The need for total assurance of supply, purity of genetics, and management of production drove Lanaco to develop the first sheep in the world specifically bred to grow wool for respiratory air filters.
Quality and performance start at the source, and our source is the pristine lakes district of the South Island of New Zealand. Here the Astino is responsibly and carefully farmed with the latest in farm science and husbandry practises, and developing regenerative farming principles and land and water care.
The Astino exclusively provides the scientific evidence required to maximise quality and consistency in every filter it goes in to.

The Helix filter (also known as ecostatic™ technology) is named after the helical protein molecule at the heart of the wool fibre.
Using the latest in electret technology, the refined wool fibres are central to providing an incredibly powerful capture of submicron particles at the lowest of low resistance.
Filter weights range from 50 to 1,000 gsm.
Defining Features
Helix ™ is the result of 10 years of intense scientific study into filter technology, built on top of 150 years of agricultural research in wool production.
The functionalities of the filter material are embedded in the complex nature of the wool fibre. It is natural therefore to build a human health protecting product from a natural fibre which has evolved over centuries to protect sheep in the high-country from the harsh environments in which they live.
+ High particle capture efficiency
+ Ultra low breathing resistance
+ High loft and dust loading
+ Additional functionality
+ Sustainable renewable resource
+ Low carbon processing in country of production
Independent testing has shown grease and odour levels are significantly reduced when using Alpuro.
