Blueair and Lanaco Unveil World’s First Wool EcoLast™ Filter, Redefining the Future of Sustainable Clean Air
Global air health leader Blueair has unveiled the world’s first bio-based wool air purifier filter, developed in close partnership with New Zealand wool technology pioneer Lanaco. The new EcoLast™ filter combines Swedish engineering with Lanaco high-performance EcoStatic® filtration technology to deliver cleaner indoor air without relying on traditional synthetic materials.
The multi-year collaboration has resulted in a 100% USDA Certified Biobased wool filter that replaces synthetic, petroleum-based materials with a biodegradable alternative. This advancement maintains strict global air quality performance standards while significantly reducing environmental impact.
Designed for Blueair’s premium consumer purifiers, the new filter features a 50% longer operational life than standard synthetic models, providing up to 18 months of continuous use. It removes 99.97% of airborne particles, including dust, pollen, and pet dander, without relying on harmful chemicals or releasing microplastics into the home environment.

The core technology behind the EcoLast filter relies on the science that secured Lanaco a place in NASA’s Artemis space missions.
