Lanaco’s Spirit of the Innovators MOTAT Display: A Tribute to New Zealand’s Innovative History

Lanaco, a New Zealand company that produces natural material breathable filters, has partnered with MOTAT, the Museum of Transport and Technology, to showcase its innovative technology in a unique display. The display, called Spirit of the Innovators, features Lanaco’s filter material used material science to make air filters.

The exhibition showcases how three special circumstances come together in New Zealand to create the perfect conditions for a culture of innovation to flourish: inspiring ancestors, an adventurous population, and the impact of remoteness.

Lanaco’s filter material, which is made from natural wool fibers, was chosen by NASA to be part of the Artemis program, which aims to send humans back to the moon and beyond. The filter material has been tested in extreme conditions and proven to be effective in filtering out dust, microbes and other contaminants. Lanaco is proud of its commitment to sustainability. The company believes that it is important to protect the environment and to ensure that future generations can enjoy the benefits of wool in filters.

The Spirit of the Innovators display at MOTAT celebrates the achievements of Lanaco, as well as the history of innovation in New Zealand. Visitors can also learn more about Lanaco’s technology and how it can be used for various applications, such as face masks, air purifiers and emergency breathing apparatus.

The display is part of MOTAT’s mission to preserve and share New Zealand’s transport and technology heritage, as well as to inspire future generations of innovators and adventurers. The display was launched in 2019 and is open for a limited time for visitors to enjoy.
