NASA takes wool filters where no sheep has gone before 🚀🔬
For centuries, sheep’s wool has driven technological advancements, from spinning wheels to computer-controlled looms. Today, wool is making strides in space technology with NASA’s help.
NASA partnered with Lanaco from New Zealand to enhance firefighting masks for the Orion spacecraft for the Artemis missions. Lanaco’s innovative wool-based EcoStatic® Filter Media, known for their fire resistance and moisture handling, are now crucial in space safety.
Lanaco’s wool-based EcoStatic® filters have found applications in many indoor air quality applications on Earth, and industrial and personal respiratory masks. Their effectiveness in high-moisture environments makes them ideal for medical devices too.
