How Texus Fibre turns wool into industrial textiles
Texus Fibre is a textile company based in Auckland that uses wool as the raw material for making high-performance textiles for industrial applications. The company was founded in 2011 by Nick Davenport, who has more than 20 years of experience in producing industrial components out of foam and other soft fibres.
The company uses proprietary technology that controls the composition of wool fibre and creates a branded textile roll that can be used for technical applications, primarily air filtration. One of the main products of Texus Fibre is a personal respiratory filter that uses wool’s natural functionalities, such as breathability, moisture management and electrostatic properties, to capture particles and microbes from the air.
Texus Fibre focuses on markets that value these attributes of wool, such as safety equipment and anti-pollution masks. The company has customers in South Africa and Australia, and has received investment from the Global from Day One (GD1) fund, which supports early-stage companies with global potential.
Texus Fibre aims to be a strong brand for products that use wool-based textiles, and to tap into the scientific research and expertise on wool in New Zealand.
