Video – Why NASA Chooses EcoStatic®
NASA – National Aeronautics and Space Administration searched the world for a filter media that could balance particle capture, dust holding capacity, fire resistance, water resistance and VOC capture all in one prefilter for the Artemis Orion space capsule’s Contingency Breathing Apparatus destined for astronauts to go to the moon and back!
They came across our wool-based EcoStatic® and it met all their requirements.
This incredible validation stems from a monumental challenge: NASA required a single, multi-functional prefilter for the Artemis Orion space capsule’s Contingency Breathing Apparatus (CBA). This filter had to perform under the most extreme conditions, successfully balancing five critical safety requirements:
• Particle Capture (fine dust and particulates).
• Dust Holding Capacity (withstanding long mission durations).
• Fire Resistance (crucial for spacecraft safety).
• Water Resistance (maintaining integrity in humid conditions).
• VOC Capture (removing harmful Volatile Organic Compounds).
EcoStatic® was rigorously tested and validated to meet every one of NASA’s stringent specifications, proving its superior capability to protect astronauts aboard the Orion capsule. This partnership is a powerful testament to the world-leading performance and technical sophistication of our sustainable, natural fibre technology.
